Should My Website Be Mobile-Friendly Or Responsive?

In 2015 Google leveled up the web industry by switching up its mobile search algorithm to favor mobile-friendly websites. Which when you think about it makes sense... No one wants to be on their mobile device and looking at a website that doesn't fit their screen and has overlapping text and buttons.

Designing a Responsive Mobile-version of your website boosts SEO and User Experience.
Designing a Responsive Website

Having a website that is mobile-friendly is a great start, but did you know you can now take your websites a step further by making them responsive?

❓Did you know that having a mobile-friendly website is not the same as having a responsive website? Responsive websites are mobile-friendly, but a mobile-friendly website does not mean it's responsive!

Simply put, a mobile-friendly website functions the exact same way regardless of the device. In other words, mobile-friendly designs do not change based on the device being used.

A responsive website has a fluid and flexible layout which adjusts according to screen size. 🖥💻📱 The importance of responsive web design is that it offers an optimized browsing experience. Basically, your website will look great and work well on a desktop (or laptop), a tablet, and a mobile phone's browser.

Another great benefit of having a website that is responsive and mobile-friendly is that it helps boost your SEO. In today's world, responsiveness and UX are amongst the top influential aspects of ranking on SERPs, with quality content being number one.

With Wix EditorX BETA making responsive websites is now easier than before! The new EditorX BETA does have a bit of a learning curve so, if you only use their easy drag-and-drop ADI website builder, you might want to hire a Wix Partner like me to make your site for you. If you already have a website with the older version of Wix, you can transfer your premium plan over to the new EditorX plan and just pay the difference between plans. Unfortunately at this time, there is no option to port over your old website into EditorX, so you will have to make the site over again from scratch. This is really the only bummer but in my opinion very worth it!
