Top 5 Free Content Creation Tools

Creating digital content for social media, the web, or any other purpose can be frustrating and time-consuming. Learning complex design software is a big task in itself, and what if you struggle with creative blocks? It can be intimidating. Luckily there are lots of free and helpful content creation tools available to elevate your social media and web presence.

Whether you are new to marketing or not, these free content creation tools will make your day a heck of a lot easier without the big price tag of similar software programs.

From design to copy, here are my favorite free content creation tools.

1. Pixlr

Pixlr has been around for quite some time and not a lot of people know about it. I love Pixlr because it offers a lot of great Photoshop-similar tools for free! I love that the program lets you edit photos right in your browser for Free. It offers next-level, intuitive photo editing with AI-powered tools for quick yet professional edits. Pixlr has lots of free-to-use stock images and helpful videos that walk you through all the steps so you can create awesome and unique graphics.

Pixlr has 2 tools to choose from:

1. Pixlr Express, which includes more image editing

2. Pixlr Editor, which has many of the same functions as image software like Photoshop

Here is a poster I made using Pixlr/E/ in only a couple minutes.

Free version offers

  • Access to Pixlr X and E

  • Basic editing tools

  • Limited set of overlays

  • Limited set of stickers

  • Supported by Ads

2. Canva

This is another tool that I love for graphics/visual content creation, it's so easy to use, with many templates to help inspire your creative genius. Canva is one program that's used by many professionals in the marketing industry. While you can't do the same level of editing and design as you can with Pixlr, you can still easily create and edit beautifully customized images for sharing on social media, illustrating blog posts, and much more. Feeling a little overwhelmed? Try checking out their Design School before starting.

A facebook post I am working on using Canva
  • Limited Pictures/Stickers/Fonts/Resizing

  • Have the option to pay per use for premium graphics and fonts ($1.00)

Even though the free version has limitations, you can still pump out some amazing designs and content with Canva.

3. Hemingway App

Recently, I stumbled upon the Hemingway App while searching for tools to help me optimize my blog posts. I fell in love with this tool because it is so helpful and offers a visual component to editing/proofing. I'm not afraid to admit, I am not the strongest writer, so this tool helps me to make my message is clear and efficient.

All you do is paste your copy into the app and it will highlight areas that are too lengthy, too complex, and any possible errors. It also suggests shorter words, highlights adverbs, and redundant/weakening words that are unnecessary and can be removed.
